The castle theater in Celle, under Duke Georg Wilhelm, was already established in the 17th century as a model of Italian and French stages, and is Europe’s oldest regularly-played baroque theater.
From the classic to the premiere of contemporary authors, performances alternate. The wide-ranging theatrical offer is supplemented by productions for children and young people.
The annual summer theater of the castle theater takes place in the courtyard of the Celler Castle.
